Michael Penix Jr Injured in Falcons October Loss to Ravens

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. suffered a rib injury during an overtime game against the Baltimore Ravens. The incident occurred late in the game when Penix was sacked by Ravens linebacker Tavius Robinson. Although Penix managed to walk off the field without assistance, he expressed optimism about his recovery. “Knowing me, I’m going to be ready to go next week because I sat out enough in my career,” Penix commented. The quarterback returned to play for one more snap before being replaced by backup Tua Tagovailoa.
The game ultimately went into overtime tied at 23-23, but Penix did not return to play. Tagovailoa’s interception by Kyle Hamilton ended the game with a Ravens’ victory at 30-23. Despite his eagerness to return, Penix’s worsening pain prevented his comeback. “It’s frustrating, but I think the biggest thing is just I want to be out there, especially in a big moment in a game like that,” said Penix, who had just returned from an ACL surgery a few weeks prior.
Penix’s performance before the injury included 19 completed passes out of 32 for 240 yards and a touchdown, showing no interceptions. Falcons’ coach Kevin Stefanski and running back Bijan Robinson both expressed their concerns for Penix’s condition, hoping it wasn’t serious. “I hope he’s great,” said Robinson.
